Irvine Golf Club have retained the Ayrshire Scratch League Division 1 title, after victory in the title showdown match against Royal Troon.
After Irvine drew their penultimate fixture at Prestwick St
Cuthbert 3 – 3, the destination of the title rested on the result of the match
over the Bogside course, between Irvine and Royal Troon, played on Friday
evening, the 19th of August.
In the event it was the defending champions from the host
club that prevailed, a 4 – 2 win in the match giving them their second
successive title win.
In the other remaining fixture in Division 1, also played on
Friday the 19th of August, Loudoun drew 3 – 3 with their visitors
from Prestwick St Cuthbert, who were already relegated, which was enough to see
Loudoun avoid the relegation play off matches, at the expense of Kilmarnock
Barassie.

In the DIVISION 3 play off, the title was decided by the
narrowest of margins, with AYR BELLEISLE coming out on top, by virtue of a
countback over the individual tie scores, after both legs of the play off were
drawn 3 – 3 for an overall match score of 6 – 6.
Following a countback over the individual tie scores, it was
Ayr Belleisle who emerged as the Division 3 champions for 2022 by virtue of a
35 – 34 countback score.
Ayr Belleisle will now take their place in Division 2 next
season.
