After the first leg was drawn 3 - 3 at Ardeer, the return leg at Ayr Belleisle also finished 3 - 3 giving a final aggregate score of 6 - 6 over the two legs, meaning that the destination of the trophy, and automatic promotion spot, was decided by a countback over the results of the 12 individual ties in the final.
Ayr Belleisle were declared the championship winners by a countback score of 35 - 34.
As a result Ardeer will now play West Kilbride, who finished second bottom in Division 2, in the two leg play off match to decide which club will play in division 2 and division 3 next season.
In the other play off match, Kilmarnock Barassie, by virtue of their second bottom place in Division 1, will play off with Division 2 runners up Turnberry, do decided which of the two clubs will take their place in divisions 1 and 2 next season.
The two legs of the play off matches are due to be completed by Sunday the 11th of September.
