WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Ayrshire teams record a draw and a loss against Dumbartonshire


The Ayrshire A team drew 4 – 4 at Turnberry, over the King Robert The Bruce course, on Sunday 22nd September, in their second West Of Scotland Inter County League fixture of the series.

The first three ties were lost but crushing wins by Michael Smyth and Steven Stamper reduced the deficit before Stephen Spence and Stuart Miller ensured a draw for the home team.

Despite losing his tie on the final green, the day was a memorable one for Darren Mallinson who recorded his first ever hole in one, at the tenth hole, during his tie.

In the corresponding youths match at Lenzie, Ayrshire went down 5 – 3 to the hosts.

Ayrshire started well, taking 2.5 points from the first three ties but only Greg Telfer in the anchor tie could add any further points to the Ayrshire total.
