SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Michael Smyth bows out in the last sixteen

Ayrshire’s hopes of a winner this year in the Scottish Amateur Championship, being played this week at Crail, ended on Friday morning, 2nd August, when Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) lost in the third round of match play.

Up against Marcus Rickard (Cupar) in the last sixteen, and bidding for a place in the quarter finals, Smyth was overcome by his opponent in the outward half, turning for home with a four hole deficit before eventually losing by 6 & 5.
