WOMANS AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Hazel McGarvie top Scot in qualifying

Hazel McGarvie (Royal Troon) was the top Scot in the qualifying rounds of the 2019 Womans Amateur Championship, being held this week at Royal County Down GC in Ireland, from 11th to 15th June.

Rounds of 72 and 74 on the opening two days of the competition gave McGarvie a level par total of 146 which secured the sixth of sixty four qualifying places for the matchplay stages.

Two other Scots, Fiona Liddell and Chloe Goadby also qualified for the matchplay stages which commence on Thursday morning.

In the opening round of the matchplay, Hazel McGarvie faces Renate Njelle Grimstad from Norway, whilst Goadby is up against Micheala Williams (USA) and Liddell plays Emma Spitz (Austria)

141 - Angelica Moresco (Italy) 69/72
144 - Gurleen Kaur (USA) 73/71, Amelia Garvey (New Zealand) 72/72
146 - Kiira Riihijarvi (Finland) 74/72, Hazel McGarvie (Royal Troon, Scotland) 72/74
