Hazel McGarvie (Troon Ladies) is leading Scot after the first
round of the Helen Holm Scottish Woman’s Open Amateur Stroke Play being played at Royal Troon from Friday 24th to Sunday 26th April.
Following a two under par opening round of 70 over the Portland course, McGarvie lies two shots behind the three leading players. Including world number three Linnea Strom from Gothenburg in Sweden.
Playing over her home course, McGarvie was two under par after five holes but dropped three shots over the next two holes before putting her challenge right back on track with successive eagle threes at both the eleventh and twelfth holes.
McGarvie’s club mate Emma Hale returned a 78 in the opening round.
The championship continues with a further round over the Portland course on Saturday and a closing round over the Old Course on Sunday.
