WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY UNDER 18 LEAGUE - Ayrshire beat Renfrewshire at Troon

Ayrshire ran out comfortable winners in their latest West Of Scotland Inter County Under 18 League match on Sunday 17 August, beating Renfrewshire by 6 - 2 at Troon Lochgreen.

A late call off by one of the Renfrewshire players saw one point being awarded to Ayrshire at the start, Murray McCrone (Troon Welbeck) sitting out the match as a result.

Ross McDonald (Irvine) led from the front for Ayrshire with a 3&2 win over Aidan Wilson (Erskine) and despite Lewis Breslin (Fereneze) having a late fight back to beat Blair Fleming (Troon Welbeck) by 1 hole in the second tie, the Ayrshire Under 16 players, including Euan Ferguson (Turnberry) who was making his representative debut for the county won the four Under 16 games 3 - 1 to ensure that Ayrshire would have at least a drawn match overall.

Jordan Fraser (Ayr Belleisle) was always under pressure in his tie, losing out by 4&3 to Callum Taggart (Eastwood) but wins in the remaining two Under 18 ties by Craig McKenzie (Troon Welbeck) and Jack Tghomas (Irvine) gave Ayrshire a 6 - 2 victory overall.

Murray McCrone (Troon Welbeck) received a walkover for Ayrshire
Jack Thomas (Irvine) beat Paul Dorrian (Greenock) by 3&2

In the other match played on Sunday 17 August, at a wet and windy Sandyhills GC, Glasgow hosted Lanarkshire and were disadvantaged when one tie, involving Lanarkshire's Fraser Kane, was awarded to the visitors due to the absence of one of the Glasgow players. The visitors had the best of the day, beating their hosts by 5.5 - 2.5.
The remaining match due to be played in August, between Dumbartonshire and Stirlingshire, is scheduled to be take place at Dullatur GC on Sunday 31 August.

Ayrshire's final match of the season takes place on Sunday 7th September at Brunston Castle GC, when the visitors are Stirlingshire.
