Scotland lost by 2pt to England while title-holders Ireland trounced Wales 10-5 on the opening day of the boys' home golf internationals at Western Gailes Golf Club, Ayrshire, on Tuesday 5th August.

Scotland lost the foursomes 3-2 and despite good wins by Ewen Ferguson, Robert MacIntyre, Adam Fisher and George Burns they also lost the singles by one point, 5 1/2-4 1/2 for an overall defeat of 8 1/2-6 1/2.
Newmachar's Adam Fisher marked his debut for Scotland by winning twice.
Fisher, a member of the new Team Lawrie, partnered Stuart Easton of Irvine GC to a 6 and 4 foursomes win over Jack Singh Brar and Jamie Li.
Then, in the singles, Fisher again did not have to play the last four holes. He beat Harry Hall 5 and 4.
