AYRSHIRE FOURBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - First round results posted

Only one first round result from the 2014 Ayrshire Fourball Championship is still awaited, as the competition progresses to the last 32 stage.

2012 runners up in the event, Robert Marshall & Phil Rooney (Beith) beat Eddie Gilmour & Steph Holland (Braehead) by 3 & 2 at Beith in the opening round and are now at home to George Brown & Gordon Johnston (Kilbirnie Place) who booked their place in round 2 with a one hole home win over John Taylor & Gordon Neill (The Chase)

David Gemmell & Scott Ward (West Kilbride) will host Iain McFarlane & Billy Wilson (Caprington) in round 2. The West Kilbride pair had a 6 & 4 home win over David Batchelor & Steven Davies (Troon Welbeck) in round one whilst the Caprington pair won away from home against David Paterson & Brian McTaggart (Ayr Carrick).

Thomas Alexander & Alex Leishman (Ayr Seafield) will host John Errington & Alastair Colquhoun (Prestwick St Nicvholas) in round two following a 2 & 1 away win against near neighbours Barry & James Wilson (Ayr Neptune). The St Nicholas duo had a home win by a similar margin over David McAlpine & Scott Wilson (Drongan) in round one.

The winner of the match between Gary Robinson & Douglas McMaster (New Cumnock) and William McMeikan & Robert Galloway (Turnberry Staff) is still to be notified, with the winner at home to Gary Steele & John Urie (Maybole) who won their first round match by 4 & 3 away from home against Gary Falconer & Stuart Ross (Ayr Dalmilling).

Peter Clark & Kenny O'Neill (Kilmarnock Barassie) beat Kevin Campbell & John Toal (Glacier) by 4 & 3 at Barassie in round one and now have another home tie in the second round, against Victor Sproat & David Lewis (Ayr Belleisle) who won by 2 & 1 away from home in their opening match against James McComiskey & Tommy Devlin (Troon Portland).

Gary Jordan & Paul Ferguson (Crosshouse) beat their hosts Alex McCaughtrie & David Porte (Wallacetown) by 6 & 4 in the opening round and will be at home to Jock Barr & David Sloan (Doon Valley) in round two, after the Doon Valley pairing had a 2 & 1 home win over Gordon Graham & Calum Frew (Irvine) in round one.

The final first round match saw John McLuskie & Alan McKinnie (Largs Routenburn) beat Colin & Colin McDonald (Troon St Meddans) by 2 & 1 at Routenburn. The Largs Routenburn duo now play host to Tom Reid & Dougie Ainslie (Stewarton) in round two.
