Sam Torrance was joint second and Ross Drummond joint fifth in the recent Berenberg Bank Masters in South Africa, behind form man Boonchu Ruangkit (Thailand) who sealed a historic hat-trick of victories on the European Senior Tour after a superb final round of 69. In doing so he became the first player since Tommy Horton in 1997 to win three consecutive Senior Tour events, following his back-to-back victories in Brunei and his native Thailand and also became the quickest player to win three times on the Senior Tour.
Torrance opened with successive scores of 72, one under par, but a closing round of 75 pushed him into joint second.
A level par 73 in the first round put Drummond in good position but a 77 in round 2 pushed him down the field. A closing 74 saw Drummond climb back up the table, finishing in joint seventh place.
