NEWS RELEASE FROM NEWMAN UNIVERSITY, WICHITA
Newman University in Wichita, Kansas,USA is pleased to announce the arrival of its three newest players. Linzi Allan, Megan Birdsey and Alyssa Balding all arrived on campus last week. All three girls hail from the UK.
Women's Golf Coach Don Farquhar said
“All three girls will be able to have an immediate impact on our team. They are all very dedicated to their school work and their golf games. We should be much stronger this season.”
Linzi (a member at West Kilbride, where she is women's club champion, and Kilbirnie Place Golf Club) comes from Ayshire Scotland. She is a tall, smooth swinger who drives the ball very well. Her strongest part of the game is her long game.
Coach Farquhar says that with a little work on her short game she will be “a force to be reckoned with.”
Megan, from Caddington Golf Club, Luton, is another smooth swinger with a contagious personality. She is also going to be a regular in the line-up. She is the kind of player every coach dreams of having on a team.
Alyssa comes from Parklands, Northumberland in the North of England. She has a very sound technical swing. There are very few weak spots in her game. A little more seasoning is all she needs. She has a strong work ethic that will bode her well the rest of her life.
Newman University is very lucky to have all three young ladies on the Women’s Golf team. NU competes in the NCAA Division II in the Heartland conference. Their season starts on Sept 14th with their first tournament in Dallas Texas. Keep an eye out for these three ladies as they make their splash into NCAA golf!
