In the first of this seasons Ayrshire Junior Golf League finals, held at Largs Golf Club on Sunday 5th September, Kilmarnock Barassie retained the Wallace Thornton Trophy in a close match against Largs, who had the good fortune to contest the final over their home course.
Whilst a team of 6 from Barassie were further up the road at Routenburn contesting the second leg of the AJGL Championship semi final, the 4 man scratch team from Barassie took on a strong Largs side which included the 2004 Ayrshire Boys Champion, Iain Menzies and Champion Of Champions Trophy semi finalist Craig McLaughlin.
The visitors however also boasted a strong side with a triumvirate of Scottish Boys Internationalists in Robert McKnight, David Addison & Steven McEwan, and it was the visitors who eventualy took the trophy with a 3 - 1 match score.
