SCOTTISH JUNIOR TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Irvine finish runners up at Elderslie

The team representing Irvine Golf Club finished runners up in the 2023  Scottish Junior Team Championship competition, played at Elderslie Golf Club on Sunday the 24th of September.

Despite being out in the later tee times, and having to play in the worst of the conditions, the under 18 team of Ryan Kennedy, Aidan Hay, Liam Moran, Orla Moran, Sean Byrne and Mason Chisholm posted a best five from six stableford score total of 173 to finish just seven points behind the winners from Braehead GC.

Troon Welbeck finished in fourth place in the field of 16 teams, on 168 points.

Mason also picked up an impressive 3rd in nett, and Liam had the longest drive.

GOLFSIXES - Irvine team win South of Scotland regional final at Douglas Park

The team representing the Irvine Golf Club won the South of Scotland regional final of the Golf 6's competition on Sunday the 24th of September at Douglas Park Golf Club.  

Jack Anderson, Luca Dickson, Roan Leavy, Charlie Thomson, Callum Easter and Oliver Brown won through their Ayrshire league to qualify for the regional final and after winning at Douglas Park they now go forward to the national final at Dunning Golf Club in Perth on Sunday the 1st of October. 

The GolfSixes League is a team-based competition that gives juniors the experience of being part of a team and representing their club at beginner level.

With leagues of 4 to 6 teams, juniors have the opportunity to compete against other juniors of the same level from other local clubs in regional leagues in a fun pairs Texas Scramble format over 6 shortened holes.

There are over 25 leagues taking place across Scotland each year, with 128 clubs entered in 2023.

GolfSixes League is an exciting programme that supports the retention of junior golfers at a key stage in their development.

BALLOCHMYLE LADIES EVENT - Entries now being taken for 9 hole and afternoon tea competition in October.

Entries are now being accepted by Ballochmyle ladies for their 9 hole stableford competition with afternoon tea, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday the 15th of October.

DEER PARK PRO AM - Ayrshire's Euan Ferguson finishes tied second

Euan Ferguson (Prestwick Golf Club) finished tied second on in the rescheduled Deer Park pro Am which was held on Wednesday the 7th of September.

A three times winner of the Ayrshire Boys Matchplay Championship, Ferguson carded a 5 under par round of 67 to finish just two shots behind the winner Paul O'Hara. His round included birdies at the 2nd, 7th, 9th, 10th, 12th and 15th holes, with just a single bogey in the round, at the 16th.
