SCOTTISH AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Ayrshire's title hopes dashed in quarter finals

Ayrshire's hopes of a Scottish Amateur Champion at Blairgowrie this year were dashed on Friday when the last two remaining Ayrshire players lost in the quarter finals.

On Friday morning in the last 32, Stuart Easton (Irvine) bowed out when he lost by 3& 1 to Andrew Thomson (Lanark).

Jim Johnston (Ayr Belleisle) beat Nurtai Saldarove (Craigielaw) by 3 & 2 on Friday morning but lost his quarter final tie in the afternoon to Jmaie Stewart (Old Ranfurly)

The other remaining Ayrshire player in the field saw both his matches on Friday concluded on the final green of the tie.

Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) won by a single hole against Robbie Morrison (Royal Perth) in the morning but bowed out in the quarter final stage on Friday afternoon when he lost by the same margin to Stephen Roger (Peebles) in their quarter final tie.

The semi finals will be held on Saturday with the final scheduled to take place on Sunday.
