AYRSHIRE FOURBALL CHAMPIONSHIP - More first round sucesses

Six more teams, including the defending champions, are through to the second round of the Ayrshire Fourball Championship following recent first round ties.

John Macdonald & Steven Wilson (Wallacetown) beat David Clydesdale and Graham Ross (Crosshouse) and now have a home tie against either Girvan or Annanhill in round 2.

Five birdies against two by their hosts was enough to see John Brodie & Gordon Christie (Chase) through against David Frew & David Brown (Prestwick St Cuthbert) by 3 & 1. Chase are at home in round 2 to Mick McGowan and Gerry Reid (Alton), who had an away win against Stuart Wilson & David McGilvary (Troon Portland) in round 1.

Holders David & George McCulloch (Brunston Castle) got their defence off to a successful start with an away win against Kenny McGill & Gilbert Lamont (Troon Welbeck), and now face another away tie against Stewarton in round 2.

John & Martin Burrows (Skelmorlie) play host to Ricky Black & Keith Fairley (Irvine) in the second round after both teams had first round home wins over Edward Gilmour & Neil McPherson (Tam O Shanter) & Hugh & Kenneth Campbell (Ayr Carrick) respectively.

The remaining six first round matches must be completed by Sunday 14th April.
