AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Ardeer still on course for three in a row

Ardeer remain on course for a third successive AJGL Championship win after winning through against Irvine Ravenspark in the section D play off, for a semi final spot.

In the first leg of the play off, on Sunday 14th August, Ardeer took a 4.5 - 1.5 advantage from their home leg. Despite the apparently convincing winning margin, the match was close throughout with 4 of the 6 matches finishing on the 17th green, on finishing at the final hole and the other match being concluded at the 16th.

The return match at Ravenspark on Wednesday 17th August saw a stirring fighback from Ravenspark, but despite their best efforts, their 4-2 win left them just short of the points required to oust the champions, Ardeer winning through to the semi finals on a 6.5 - 5.5 aggregate. The second leg was even closer than the first, with Ardeer securing two crucial half matches from two ties that were both two down with two holes to play.

Ardeer's semi final matches against Ayr Belleisle are scheduled for Sunday 4th September at Ayr, with the return at Ardeer on Sunday 11th September.

In the play off match from section A, Ballochmyle all but ensured a semi final place against West Kilbride with a first leg home win by 5.5 - 0.5 over St. Cuthbert on Monday 15th August. The result of the second leg, scheduled for Sunday 21st August is still to be notified.
