Prestwick St Cuthbert last hosted the county Strokeplay Championship in 2010 when Tommy McInally (Loudoun), the present title holder, recorded the second of his three championship wins. The club were originally scheduled to host the Strokeplay event in 2018, but with ongoing construction work taking place on the Turnberry Kintyre course, where the championship was originally due to be played this year, a venue swap was agreed, with the championship now scheduled to be held over the Kintyre course in 2018.
