LADIES GOLF - First defeat for Loudoun in Greenlees bid

Loudoun Gowf Club, bidding for a third successive divisional title in the West Of Scotland Inter Club competitions for the Greenlees Trophy, suffered their first defeat of the season recently.

Having won the third division title in 2011 and the second division in 2012 Loudoun started their fist division challenge with two home wins but last month their challenge was stalled by a 5.5 - 3.5 defeat at Ranfurly Castle. Perhaps spurred on by the loss of their 100% record, the Loudoun team followed the defeat with a 7 - 2 win at Haggs Castle and a  7 - 2 home win over Whitecraigs.

The other local clubs in Division 1 were all in action during June also, with mixed fortunes.

Largs had a good 4.5 - 4.5 draw at Kilmarnock Barassie but this was followed by a 2.5 - 6.5 home defeat by Milngavie and a 7 - 2 home loss to Troon Ladies.

As well as their win at Largs, Troon Ladies had a 4.5 - 4.5 draw at Ranfurly Castle, whilst Kilmarnock Barassie were narrowly defeated by 5 - 4 in their visit to Whitecraigs.

Present positions in Division 1 are :-

35.0 - Milngavie
31.5 - Loudoun
22.5 - Ranfurly Castle
21.0 - Troon Ladies
15.0 - Haggs Castle
14.5 - Kilmarnock Barassie
