SCOTTISH YOUTHS CHAMPIONSHIP - Macneal narrowly misses out at Lanark

Charlie Macneal (Prestwick GC) narrowly missed out on his first national title in the Scottish Youths Championship, played at Lanark over the weekend, when he finished in runner up spot in the 72 hole event.

The former Ayrshire Boys Champion, who won the title in 2010 playing from Troon Welbeck, had a four round total of 289 (+7) to finish three shots adrift of the winner Robert McIntryre (Glencruiten).

David Wilson (Troon Welbeck) was tied 11th on 293 (+13) whilst Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) was tied 38th on 305 (+25).

The half way cut fell at 150 with Jack McCluskey of Ayr Belleisle (153), Louis Murray (Troon Welbeck) 154) and Greg Telfer (Prestwick St Cuthbert (155) failing to make the final two rounds.
