David Wilson (Troon Welbeck) defends the title over the historic links which last hosted the event in 2008 when local player Steven Wallace (Prestwick St Cuthbert) took the trophy.
The players returning the best 16 scores in the championship will go forward to contest the Ayrshire Matchplay Championship at Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club from 6th to 9th May.
For the first time this year, the R & A have confirmed
that the Ayrshire Championship will be included in World Amateur Golf Rankings. The strokeplay championship will be considered a qualifier for the matchplay where WAGR points will be awarded to the successful players.
