AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION ANNUAL DINNER - Wilson takes the plaudits for outstanding season

David Wilson (Troon Welbeck)  was praised for his outstanding season in 2012 when representatives of member clubs, West Of Scotland area associations and other guests met at Prestwick St Nicholas Golf Club on Friday 22nd February for the 31st Ayrshire Golf Association annual dinner.

Chaired by President Milton Murray, guests included Scottish Golf Union President and fellow Ayrshireman Iain Harvey as well as the presidents of the other five West Of Scotland area associations.

Also numbered amongst the guests were British Disabled Open Champion Alasdair Berry of Irvine Ravesnpark and Scottish Boys Champion Of Champions Greg Telfer of Prestwick St Cuthbert.

Those present at the dinner were able to see the trophies won by Alasdair and Greg close at hand as they were displayed in pride of place on the top tabe throughout the evening.

Also on display at the dinner was the Raymond Trophy, won by Scotland at the Home Internationals at Glasgow Gailes in 2012 with Ayrshire golfer Jack McDonald (Kilmarnock Barassie) in the team, with attendees having the rare opportunity of seeing the trophy at close quarters.

After an excellent meal, the company were entertained by guest speaker Jim Robertson, a lawyer from Airdrie and presently a Procurator Fiscal in Edinburgh, who provided an entertaining presentation prompting much laughter amongst the assembled company.

The presentation of the trophies won by clubs and individuals in 2012 culminated in the presentation of the Doc Thom Salver and Ayrshire Order Of Merit title to David Wilson for his outstanding season in 2012, which saw him lift a number of prestigious titles including the county Matchplay and Strokeplay trophies.

The evening concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Association Vice President James McMurdo of Ballochmyle GC.
