SCOTTISH BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP - Wilson carries Ayrshire hopes into the quarter finals

Ayrshire Boys Champion David Wilson (Troon Welbeck) is the lone Ayrshire survivor in the quarter finals of the 2011 Scottish Boys Championship, being held at Dunbar this week.

In the fourth round, played on Thursday morning, Wilson defeated Lousi Gaughan (Bathgate) by 3 & 2 to set up a fifth round match with Sean Burgess (Nairn).

In the last 16 match on thursday afternoon, Wilson found himself three down after four holes but used all his matchplay experience to fight back to all square before taking the tie and claiming a place in the last eight with a single hole victory clinched on the final green.

In the quarter finals on Friday morning Wilson will play Connor Marsland (Lincoln).

Ayrshire's other two hopes both bowed out on Thursday morning in the fourth round.

Euan Walker (Kilmarnock Barassie) lost out to Daniel Flannery (Peebles) by one hole whilst Jack McDonald (Kilmarnock Barassie) saw his title hopes ended with a 4 & 3 defeat by Greig Marchbank (Dumfries & Galloway).
