A.G.A. SUMMER LEAGUE - Holders Troon welbeck make winning start

All four qualifying sections in the 2006 Ayrshire Golf Association Summer League competition are under way.

In Section 1 West Kilbride lead the way after a 6 - 0 home win over Moorpark in their opening match. Turnberry also recorded a win at home in their first match, beating Tam O Shanter by 4.5 - 1.5.

Defending champions Troon Welbeck opened their campaign with a 4.5 - 1.5 win in their local derby against Troon St. Meddans. In the other match played in the section so far Ballochmyle and their visitors Annanhill shared the spoils in a 3 - 3 draw.

Kilbirnie Place lead section 3 after a 4.5 - 1.5 home win against Irvine Ravenspark whilst Caprington also won at home in their opening match, by 3.5 - 2.5 against Ayr Belleisle.

In the only match played in section 4 so far Irvine (Bogside) recorded a 4 - 2 home win over Kilmarnock (Barassie).
