AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Troon Welbeck secure League Championship Final spot

Troon Welbeck will play Irvine in the final of the 2023 Ayrshire Junior Golf League Championship after finishing top of Section B.

In the final two fixtures of the section, Troon Welbeck beat their visitors from Prestwick St Cuthbert by 4.5 - 1.5 to secure their place in the final, and were subsequently conceded their final home fixture, at home to East Ayrshire.

the final between Troon Welbeck and Irvine is scheduled to take place at Ayr Belleisle on Sunday the 13th of August.

In the WALLACE THORNTON TROPHY, West Kilbride beat their visitors from Turnberry 4 - 0 to book their place in the final against either Irvine or Kilmarnock Barassie

The final is scheduled to take place at Ayr Belleisle on Sunday the 3rd of September.

In the UNDER 16 KNOCKOUT TROPHY, the semi finals have still to be concluded, with East Ayrshire at home to Irvine and Turnberry at home to West Kilbride.

The JUNIOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY final will be between Ryan Kennedy (Loudoun) and Jack Broadfoot (Troon Wrelbeck).

Ryan Kennedy booked his place in the final with a single hole victory at Loudoun over the defending champion Sam Crozier (West Kilbride) in their semi final encounter.

The final, which may be subject to change, was scheduled to take place at Ayr Belleisle on Sunday the 13th of August.

AYRSHIRE JUNIOR ORDER OF MERIT - Ryan Kennedy back on top with 10 events remaining

Ryan Kennedy (Irvine) is back in the lead in the chase for the 2023 Ayrshire Junior Order of Merit title, with 10 counting events remaining to be completed this season.

His runner up spot in the Ayrshire Boys' Championship at Largs recently moved him a mere 2.5 points ahead of Liam Moran (Irvine), who also gained points at Largs with his seventh place finish. 

Previous leader Sean Hillis (Kilmarnock Barassie) moved down to third place, though only ten points short of the leading total, while the new Ayrshire Boys Strokeplay Champion Scott Newman (Royal Troon) moved up to fourth place following his win at Largs.

Ryan Kennedy's absence from the Ayrshire Matchplay Championship this week gives others a chance to close the gap or potentially overtake his points total, although the other counting events at Turnberry and Ayr Belleisle this week will also be likely to have an influence on the order of merit standings.

AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Ballochmyle on the brink of relegation from Division 1

Ballochmyle are on the brink of  relegation from Division 1 of the Ayrshire Scratch leagues as a result of Largs winning their penultimate home match of the campaign on Friday night, the 4th of August.

Playing host to Kilmarnock Barassie, Largs secured a 5 - 1 win to not only ensure they avoided automatic relegation, but to also ease their concerns over dropping into the Division 1 / 2 play off spot.

In the remaining three fixtures still to be played, Largs play host to the new Division 1 champions Royal Troon and also travel to play Ballochmyle whilst Kilmarnock Barassie need a good finish with their two closing home ties, against Irvine and Loudoun, to make sure they are not involved in the relegation play off fixtures.

In DIVISION 2, Caprington and Turnberry boosted their hopes of being involved in the Division 1/2 play off matches with wins in their most recent fixtures.

Turnberry had a 4-2 home win over bottom club West Kilbride while Caprington ended Ayr Belleisle's promotion hopes with a 5-1 victory over the Ayr side at Caprington.

In the remaining fixtures, West Kilbride have home matches against both Turnberry and Caprington as they maintain their slim hopes of avoiding automatic relegation, though both their visitors will be looking for positive results to support their promotion bids, whilst Troon Portland will be looking for a positive result at home to Ayr Belleisle to ensure they avoid any possibility of automatic relegation.

AYRSHIRE WOMEN'S HANDICAP LEAGUE - Caprington through to the final

Caprington are through to the final of the inaugural Ayrshire Women's Handicap League Championship, after securing top spot in qualifying section B.

Ballochmyle had a chance to overtake Caprington at the top of the table with a big victory in their final fixture at home to Largs, but in the event the match finished as a 2 - 2 draw, which left Caprington at the top of the table with only the fixture between the bottom two clubs, Largs and Belleisle Ladies, to be played to complete the section.

NEW CUMNOCK GOLF CLUB OPEN 2023 - Entries now invited

Entries are now invited for the New Cumnock Golf Club Open which is scheduled to be held at New Cumnock Golf Club on Sunday the 20th of August.

Entry is £10 and there are prizes in three handicap classes, overall scratch and handicap prizes, and several other prizes for nearest the hole  and longest drive.

AYRSHIRE BOYS MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - 2023 Championship scheduled for Prestwick GC

The line up for the 2023 Ayrshire Boys Matchplay Championship has been confirmed, with the event scheduled to take place at Prestwick Golf Club from the 8th to the 10th of August.

The available players returning the best 8 scratch aggregate scores at the recent Ayrshire Boys Championship at Largs have progressed to play off for the matchplay title.
