The email below was issued today via the Scottish Golf 'Golf Club Communications' forum.
Prior to this notification The Ayrshire Golf Association and other Area Associations had written to Scottish Golf to express disappointment that the AGM had been moved from the usual weekend spot, which is likely to compromise the attendance of many of the volunteers who represent Areas, Counties, and Club, due to their employment commitments during the accepted working week.
The Association also expressed concern as to whether it was reasonable to expect AGM attendees, who may also be attedning the awards night, to wait 3 hours 45 minutes between the two events. The only concession in that regard is that the The AGM has now been moved back by 90 minutes from the original start time intimated of 12 Noon.
The association considers the reasoning in the communication for changing the AGM arrangements from a weekend to a weekday to be flawed, however it appears that the approaches made by Area Associons, and perhaps others, to date have had no influence and the decision has been taken to proceed with the AGM on a weekday as intimated in the notice.
Clubs can be assured that The Ayrshire Golf Association will be represented at the Scvottish Golf AGM to represent our member clubs and as usual The Association is happy to act as a proxy for any club who wishes The Association to cast a vote on their behalf.
Arrangements for proxy voting should be circulated along with rtelevant AGM papers by Scottish Golf in due course.
