AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION EXTENDED COMPETITIONS - Less than two weeks until entries close

Clubs and prospective competition entrants are reminded that the closing date for entries to the 2023 Ayrshire Golf Association extended competitions is less than two weeks away, with all entries to be in the hands of the Area Secretary by the 12th of February.

Entry forms for all the competitions noted below have been emailed to club secretaries some weeks ago. If any further copies of the entry forms are needed, contact should be made by email with the Area Secretary at ayrshire.golf@btinternet.com,, and this will be arranged.

The new Mixed Greensomes Knockout Competition is the one competition on this list which is not a single entry representing member clubs, but is instead an event where a pairing of one male and one female golfer, who must both be members of an Ayrshire Golf Association affiliated club but do not both need to be from the same club, enter as a pair. Entry forms for this event are available from Club Secretaries, from the Area Secretary by email at ayrshire.golf@btinternet.com, or can be downloaded from the appropriate link on the left of the Ayrshire Golf Association web page (desktop version).

The entries received for each event to date, 30th January 2023, are:-

Two new women's events have been introduced this year, along with a Mixed Greensomes Knockout competition.

Also being introduced this year is an AYRSHIRE WOMEN'S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TROPHY competition, for the women club champions of the member clubs from the previous season, or the runner up should the club champion not be available to play. For clubs that do not currently have a women's club championship competition to determine their nominated participant, it has been agreed that, for the 2023 competition only, that clubs that fall into this category may, if they wish, nominate a member to represent the club in the event, with the proviso that any such nominee will have a maximum handicap of 18.0.

It has also been recently confirmed that the final of the Women's Champion of Champions Trophy competition will take place at Royal Troon Golf Club on Friday the 11th of August 2023, on the same evening as the Men's Champion of Champions final and the senior Men's Matchplay final.

The other new event being introduced this year is the AYRSHIRE MIXED GREENSOMES KNOCKOUT CHAMPIONSHIP. This event is open to all members of Ayrshire Golf Association member clubs. Each pairing will consist of one man and one woman and the two players can be from any affiliated club, and do not need to be from the same club. This is an individual team event and not a club representative one, and there is no restrictions on the number of players from and single member club taking part in the event. A special introductory entry fee of just £5 per couple has been agreed for the inaugural competition in 2023, and entries will be restricted to the first 64 entries received.

Entry forms for this event are available from Club Secretaries and can also be downloaded, via the appropriate link on the left of the page, from the Ayrshire Golf Association website.

AYRSHIRE MIXED GREENSOMES KNOCKOUT COMPETITION - New Ayrshire event for 2023

The Ayrshire Golf Association are introducing a Mixed Greensomes Knockout Competition to the portfolio of county events in 2023, and entry forms are now available.

The championship will be played on a handicap knockout basis throughout the season, with the final taking place at a nominated course in early September.

The competition will be open to mixed pairs, both of whom must be members of clubs affiliated to The Ayrshire Golf Association, and an individual handicap index limit of 36.0 will apply to each player.

For the inaugural event a special reduced entry fee of £5 per couple has been agreed.

Entry for the 2023 competition will be restricted to the first 64 entries received.

Entry forms have been emailed to all club secretaries on the 5th of January, and should be available through member clubs.

Entry forms can also be downloaded via the appropriate link on the left of this page, under the 'Entry Forms' heading.

For the avoidance of any doubt, each pairing should consist of one male and one female golfer, and the players can be from different clubs, as long as their respective clubs are affiliated to The Ayrshire Golf Association.

If the players are from different clubs just include both club names in the appropriate space on the entry form.

Parings interested in taking part in this new event are advised to get their entry forms completed and submitted as soon as possible.

AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION EXTENDED COMPETITIONS - Entry forms circulated for 2023 events

Entry forms for the 2023 Ayrshire Golf Association extended competitions have been emailed to all club secretaries on the 5th of January.

Entries for all of the competitions close on the 12th of February.

The entry forms sent out are:-

In addition, those clubs who are members of The Ayrshire Golf Association, and have women members, have also been sent the entry forms for two new events being introduced in 2023.

The Ayrshire Women's Champion of Champions Trophy is being introduced this year, and follows the same format of the men's event, with entry being open to the Women's Club Champion of member clubs from the previous year. The competition will be played over the season, on a scratch basis, with the final being held at a nominated course in August.

In addition an Ayrshire Women's Handicap League Championship is being introduced in 2023. The format of this event is broadly the same as the successful men's competition introduced a few years ago, but the women's event will feature teams of four instead of six players. depending on the number of clubs entering, matches will be played in qualifying sections on a home and away basis throughout the season with section winners progressing to knockout stages and a final in early September.

If any club secretary has not received the relevant entry forms, they should contact the Area Secretary by email at ayrshire.golf@btinternet.com as soon as possible.
