WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES -One win and one defeat for Ayrshire against Dumbartonshire

For the fourth week in a row in the West of Scotland Inter County leagues, the Ayrshire teams recorded a win and a defeat on Sunday the 9th of October against Dumbartonshire.

The A team travelled to Cardross and recorded a good 4.5 – 3.5 win to maintain their mid table position.

Hamish Mills (Cardross) lost to John Shanks (Irvine) by 4&3

Iain McCalman (Clober) halved with Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle)

David McComish (Clydebank & District) lost to Steven McEwan (Caprington) by 6&5

Craig Bissett (Dumbarton) beat Scott Brown (Turnberry) by 2&1

Stewart Brown (Clydebank & District) beat Blair Morton (Royal Troon) by 4&3

Scott Moore (Clydebank & District) lost to Adam Sweeney (Prestwick St Cuthbert) by 3&2

David Lindsay (Lenzie) halved with Steven Stamper (Turnberry)

Gavin Roger (Clober) halved with John Haggarty (Loudoun)

In the other matches played on Sunday the 9th of October, Renfrewshire had a 5 – 3 away win against Glasgow at Gailes Links whilst Stirlingshire maintained their title hopes with a 5 – 3 home win over Lanarkshire at Falkirk.

Next week the Ayrshire A team play host to Glasgow at Western Gailes whilst Dumbartonshire host Lanarkshire at Hilton Park and Renfrewshire and Stirlingshire meet in a winner takes all title decider at Greenock.

In the Youths League, Ayrshire entertained Dumbartonshire on Sunday the 9th of October at Prestwick St Cuthbert and the match looked to be on a knife edge at the turn with most ties all square and other with just a single hole lead, but in the event it was the Dumbartonshire team that pulled away in the back nine to record a 6.5 – 1.5 victory over their hosts.

In the other fixtures in the youths league, Lanarkshire beat Stirlingshire 7 – 1 at Kirkhill whilst the fixture between Renfrewshire and Glasgow at Gourock was postponed due to the course being closed.

Next week the Ayrshire Youths team travel to meet Glasgow at Haggs Castle whilst Stirlingshire entertain Renfrewshire at Falkirk Tryst, and the winners of the championship will be decided at East Kilbride where Lanarkshire host Dumbartonshire.
