AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Barassie on course for Wallace Thornton Trophy defence.

Kilmarnock (Barassie) remain on course to defend the Wallace Thornton Trophy after they completed their qualifying section with four wins from four, to top the group and claim a place in the final.

In their last two matches, against Loudoun and Prestwick St. Cuthbert respectively, the Barassie side only dropped a half point, with winst by 4 - 0 and 3.5 - 0.5.

In the other outstanding tie, Loudoun beat Prestwick St. Nicholas by 4-0 to secure third place in the final table.

In Section 2, the result of a crucial tie between West Kilbride & Largs Routenburn is awaited.

In the other outstanding fixtures, Ravenspark and Troon Welbeck fought out a 2 - 2 drawwhilst Routneburn beat their visitors Ravenspark by 4 - 0.

Largs Routenburn can secure a semi final place with a win at West Kilbride although they will hand the semi final place to Ayr Belleisle if their slip up at all in their tie at West Kilbride.

The final of the Wallace Thornton Trophy is scheduled to take place at the Troon Darley course on Sunday 10th September with the first match due to tee off at 1313 hrs.
