AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - Competitions update

Fixtures have been competed in two of the Ayrshire Junior Golf league competitions this week.

In The Ayrshire Junior Golf league Championship, Kilmarnock Barassie secured a fine 3 - 3 draw away to West Kilbride in their latest fixture.

In the Under 16 Knockout Trophy competition, the last quarter final match was completed this weekend, with Turnberry recording a 3-1 away win over Kilmarnock Barassie to set up a home tie in the semi finals against West Kilbride.

There have been a small number of fixtures completed in the Ayrshire scratch leagues this week.

No fixtures were due in the last seven days in DIVISION 1, where the present positions remain as:-

PRESIDENT'S PUTTER - Auchenharvie 88 and West Kilbride progress

West Kilbride and Auchenharvie 88 are the first two clubs through to the quarter finals of the handicap Club team Knockout competition for The President's Putter.

A 2.5 - 0.5 home win for Auchenharvie 88 over Stewarton sees them playing host to either Prestwick St Nicholas or Skelmorlie in the quarter finals whilst a 2-1 win away from home against Alton gives West Kilbride a visit to either Troon Portland or Braehead in the last eight.

The remaining third round ties are due to be completed by the 25th of June.

THE AYRSHIRE JUG - Three more couples through to quarter finals of mixed greensomes competition.

Three more couples have secured their places in the quarter finals of the Ayrshire mixed greensomes competition for the Ayrshire Jug.

Gillian and Billy Pollock (Skelmorlie) travelled to play Liz & John Keohone (Loudoun) in round three and secured victory by 2 holes to set up a home tie against another Loudoun pairing, Sally Hamilton & Scott Gilchrist, in the last eight.

Neil & Sheila Kennedy (Loudoun) also had an away win in their third round match, beating Alasdair & Catherine Malcolm (Prestwick St Cuthbert) by 2&1. The Kennedys now face an away tie at either Ballochmyle or Prestwick St Nicholas in the quarter finals.

In the bottom tie in the draw, Jean and Ken Capes (Largs) also won on the road, beating David Tierney and Debbie Watt (Ayr Belleisle/Belleisle Ladies) by 3&2 to set up a visit to Ballochmyle to play Joan McMurdo & William Fleming in the quarter finals.

The remaining third round fixtures are due to be completed by the 25th of June.

AYRSHIRE MEN'S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS - Aitken and Fleming through to quarter finals

Cameron Aitken (Largs) and Louis Fleming (West Kilbride) are through to the quarter finals of the 2023 Ayrshire men's Champion of Champions Trophy competition.

Aitken had a comprehensive 7&6 victory over Kieran Reid (Alton) in his third round tie and will now travel to either Rowallan Castle or Ayr Belleisle in the next round, whilst Louis Fleming had a 3&2 away win against Dylan Scally (Ardeer) to set up a home tie in the last eight.

The remaining third round matches are due to be completed by the 25th of June.
