WOMAN'S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Four Ayrshire players qualify for matchplay at Kilmarnock Barassie

Four of the five Ayrshire players in the field qualified for the matchplay stages at the Woman's Amateur Championship at Kilmarnock Barassie, following completion of the strokeplay rounds on Tuesday the 8th of June.

Louise Duncan  (West Kilbride) leads the Ayrshire title bid, qualifying in seventh place with a one under par second round of 72 to give her a level par 36 hole total of 146. In the first round of the matchplay on Wednesday morning Louise will play England's Thalia Kirby.

A four over par second round of 77 gave Hazel McGarvie (Royal  Troon) a five over par qualifying score of 151 for 21st qualifying spot. In the first round of the matchplay she will play England's Katie Warren.

Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas) improved by two shots on day two of the qualifying, her three over par score of 76 giving her an 8 over par qualifying score of 154 and 35th qualifying place.

On Wednesday morning Rachel Foster faces Eng;and's Shannon O'Dwyer in the opening round of matchplay.

Despite struggling to a 9 over par score of 82 in the second qualifying round, Luisa Gibson (Irvine) qualified in 62nd place with a 12 over par total of 158, making the cut by a single shot. On Wednesday morning Luisa Gibson faces fellow Scot Hannah Darling in the first round of matchplay.

Although she missed the qualifying score by 7 shots with her two round total of 166, Freya Russell (Royal Troon) finished her championship on a positive note, her two over par score of 75 in the second qualifying round being a full 15 shots better than her opening round.

The matchplay rounds continue during the rest of the week, culminating in the final on Saturday.
