The 15 year old, who plays off a handicap of five, was three off the pace in the morning with a seven over par round of 78 but in the afternoon round, where heavy rain showers challenged the players, Brooks returned a best of the day round, matched only by one other player, of two over par 73 for a scratch total of 151 which was three clear of the chasing pack of four players on 154.
Brooks' afternoon round started poorly with two successive bogeys on the opening holes but he struck back with a birdie four at the third and pars at the remaining holes in the outward half saw him to the turn in 36. In the inward half bogeys at two par threes, the tenth and seventeenth, were countered by a birdie four at the thirteenth to bring him back in one over par figures of 37 over the longer back nine.
Ross McDonald (Kilmarnock Barassie) took second scratch on 154 by virtue of the better second round after two rounds of 77, with harvey broadfoot (Troon Welbeck) in third place, also on 154.
Fraser Russell (Royal Troon) took fourth scratch place, one shot further back on 155.
In the handicap placings, six handicapper Jamie McKinnon (Caprington) took the top prize with rounds of 70 & 72 for a total of 142, whilst Jack Allan (Ballochmyle) off a five handicap, took second place with rounds of 70 and 74 for a 144 total.

At the conclusion of play Ayrshire Golf Association President John W Watt (Prestwick St Cuthbert GC) presented prizes to the winning competitors before handing over the Ayrshire Boys Championship Trophy to the 2019 winner, Kerr Brooks.
