AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Division 1 and Division 3 updates

The chase for the 2022 Ayrshire Scratch League Division 1 title is becoming very tight, with only a few fixtures remaining, whilst provisional arrangements have been made for the Division 3 title play off matches.

In the latest fixture in DIVISION 1 of the Ayrshire Scratch leagues, the title chase was blown wide open when Largs defeated Royal Troon by 5 – 1 at Largs.

The result maintained Largs slim hopes of finishing in runners up spot. With just an away tie at Loudoun still to play, the Largs side need to win the tie and hope that Irvine or Royal Troon above them lose all their remaining matches.

The result at Largs was also a blow to Royal Troon’s hopes of taking the Division 1 title in their first year in the top division, the defeat meaning that their chance of overtaking Irvine at the top of the table was lost.

In the remaining fixtures, Royal Troon are away to Prestwick St Cuthbert before a crunch showdown with Irvine at the Bogside course in their final fixture of the season, which will very likely be the title decider.

Irvine also face an away tie at Prestwick St Cuthbert in their other outstanding tie.
