With Just a few fixtures remaining to be played by the end
of July across the four qualifying sections of the 2019 Ayrshire handicap
league Championship, the line up for the quarter final matches is closer to
confirmation.
In SECTION A, Rowallan Castle and Ballochmyle, who completed
their fixtures with a 3 – 3 draw at Ayr Belleisle, lead the way with just three
ties remaining to be played.
Rowallan Castle are assured of qualification even if they
lose their final game at Prestwick St Cuthbert whilst Ayr Dalmilling who
recently won 4.5 – 1.5 at St Cuthbert can overtake Ballochmyle in second spot
if they beat St Cuthbert at home in their final fixture.

In SECTION
B, Kilbirnie Place beat their visitors from Royal Troon by 4.5 – 1.5 to go
clear at the top of the table and with one fixture to play at home to Tam O
Shanter can ensure qualification with a draw at least.
Prestwick St
Nicholas lost 3.5 – 2.5 at Largs Routenburn in their penultimate fixture and
now need to better Tam O Shanter, who won their penultimate tie by 5.5 – 0.5 at
home to Largs Routenburn, in their
respective final fixtures to retain hopes of qualification. In their final
fixtures St Nicholas and tam O Shanter are away to Royal Troon and Kilbirnie
Place respectively.
Royal Troon,
with home matches against Prestwick St Nicholas and Largs Routenburn remaining
also retain hopes of qualification should results go their way.
A 3.5 – 2.5
home win for Stewarton over Ayr Seafield recently ended qualification hopes for
both these clubs for this year.

a 5 – 1 win away to Troon Merchants whilst a 3 – 3 draw at Troon Welbeck was
enough for Annanhill to secure the second qualification spot with two fixtures
still to play.

In SECTION
D, Beith beat Moorpark 3.5 – 2.5 at Beith in their penultimate fixture to
retain hopes of qualification, and require anything other than a loss in their
final fixture at home to West Kilbride to ensure qualification. Depending on
the result of Beith’s final match, Redburn are guaranteed to qualify in either
first or second spot.
Despite a 3.5
– 2.5 home win over West Kilbride in their penumtimate fixture, Loudoun, wth
one match remaining, will fall just short of the required points total for
qualification, regardless of the result of their final match.
