SCOTTISH BOYS & GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIPS - Lindsay & Foster finish as second qualifiers for matchplay stages

Ruben Lindsay (Ayr Belleisle) & Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas) finished second in the strokeplay qualifying stages of the Scottish Boys & Girls Championship respectively, being played at Moray this week.

In the Boys Championship, Lindsay had a level par second round of 70 over the New Course on day two, which gave him a four under par total of 137 and second place in the qualifying.

Cameron Johnstone (Troon Welbeck) finished tied 21st on 147 (+6) after rounds of 74 & 73 whilst Jack Broun (Ayr Belleisle) had a disappointing round of 80 on day two for an 11 over par total of 152, though he still made the cut for the matchplay stages.

Sean Addie (Ayr Belleisle), with rounds of 75 & 84, and Ewan Milligan (Kilmarnock Barassie), with rounds of 83 &76, both finished on 159 (+18) to miss the cut for the matchplay by 3 shots.

In the first round of the matchplay on Wednesday, Ruben Lindsay plays Finlay Copland (Dumfries & Galloway), Cameron Jonstone plays Connor Wilson (Castle Park) and Jack Broun plays Rory Cromarty (Nairn).

In the Girls Championship, Rachel Foster followed her opening round of 78 with a stunning second round over the new Course of 65 to give her a three under par total of 143 and second qualifying spot.


Foster's six under par second round was bogey free and included birdies at holes 2, 3, 5, 12, 13 & 14.


Louise Duncan

Louise Duncan (West Kilbride) also progressed to the matchplay, being tied seventh on 150 (+4) following rounds of 74 & 76.

Claire McLaughlin (West KIlbride) finished on 174 (+28) after rounds of 89 & 85, leaving her twelve shots adrift of the cut for the matchplay stages.

In the first round of the matchplay, Rachel Foster will play Rachel Mathieson (Hazlehead) whilst Louise Duncan plays Eilidh Henderson (Loretto School).
