SCOTTISH BOYS AREA TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - Ayrshire finish in fifth place at Eastwood

The Ayrshire team of Euan Ferguson (Turnberry), Alyx Murray (Prestwick St Nicholas) Ruben Lindsay (Ayr Belleisle) and Sean Addie (Ayr Belleisle) finished in fifth place in the 2018 Scottish Boys Area Team Championship, when the event was played at Eastwood Golf Club on Sunday 3^rd June.

Ferguson and Murray were paired in the morning foursomes and despite two double bogeys in the opening three holes, the pair rallied to record a five over par 75. Lindsay & Addie added a 73 in the second foursomes, to give Ayrshire a morning total of 148 which put them in third place going into the singles, six shots behind the early leaders from Perth & Kinross.

Perth and Kinross consolidated their lead in the afternoon singles, with their three best singles scores being added to the foursomes scores to give them a team total of 358.

As the afternoon progressed, Ayrshire emerged as the most likely to challenge the Perth & Kinross total, well into the latter stages of the afternoon rounds, but in the event the Ayrshire team came up just seven shots adrift of the winners from Perth & Kinross, who took the title for the first time.

Euan Ferguson, in the lead group for Ayrshire in the afternoon was round in level par 70 whilst Sean Addie in the final group returned a two over par 72. Despite dropping three shots in the final two holes, Ruben Lindsay recorded a five over par 75, just one shot better than Alyx Murray on 76.

364 - North-east.

365 - Ayrshire

367 - Fife

368 - Lothians

372 - Dunbartonshire

374 - Stirlingshire

384 - Angus, Borders

387 - Lanarkshire

392 - North, Argyll and Bute.

393 - Clackmannanshire

395 - Glasgow.
