The St Cuthbert team, who were beaten in the inaugural final last year by Loudoun, faced Ballochmyle in this year's final.

Steven Wallace put Prestwick St Cuthbert into the lead in the opening singles tie with a 6&5 win over Gary Holland but Craig Hamilton squared the match for Ballochmyle with a 2 hole victory over Scott Brown in the second singles tie.

The destination of the trophy, as happened last year, was destined to be decided on the result of the foursomes tie, between Callum McKirdy and William Fleming of Ballochmyle and the Prestwick St Cuthbert duo of Graeme Gimson and Steven Gillies.

As in 2016, the foursomes tie proved to be a close run affair, going all the way to the final green before Gimson and Gillies edged a single hole victory to win their tie and the match for Prestwick St Cuthbert.
