AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Troon Portland wrap up Division 4 title with one match to spare

Troon Portland have secured the Ayrshire Scratch Leagues Division 4 title, with one match still to play, as the chase for the five league titles hots up, and the relegation battles are fought.

In DIVISION 1, league leaders Prestwick St Cuthbert had a 3 – 3 draw away to Ballochmyle in their latest match, whilst Turnberry maintained their own title hopes with a 4.5 – 1.5 home win over defending champions Irvine.

Prestwick St Cuthbert have two home matches remaining to play whilst Turnberry have two away fixtures remaining, with the clash between the two sides at St Cuthbert shaping up as a championship decider.
Loudoun remain at the foot of the table at present but have three home matches and one away tie still to complete and, with the exception of Turnberry and Prestwick St Cuthbert, none of the top flite sides are clear of the relegation spot as yet.

In DIVISION 2, West Kilbride and Irvine Ravenspark are locked together at the top of the table, with both clubs having two fixtures remaining.

At the foot of the table, Troon Welbeck boosted their survival chances with a 4 – 2 win at Girvan, which followed on from a defeat by the same score at Ayr Belleisle.

In DIVISION 3, the chase for the title could not be tighter, with four of the five teams still competing likely to challenge for the title.

Prestwick St Nicholas kept their title hopes alive recently with a 5 – 1 home win over Caprington.

In DIVISION 4, Troon Portland have secured the championship title and promotion to Division 3 next year, with a 5 – 1 home win over Tam O Shanter and a title clinching 3 – 3 draw in the corresponding away fixture.

New Cumnock are presently pointless at the foot of the table, but have three home matches remaining in their bid to avoid the drop.
