SCOTTISH BOYS CHAMPIONSHIP - Two Ayrshire survivors from six on day one



Only two of the six Ayrshire players in action on day one of the Scottish Boys Championship at Murcar Links successfully negotiated the opening round on Monday 4th April.
Callum Irving (Ayr Belleisle) was the first Ayrshire player in action, but suffered an early exit with a 3 & 2 defeat by Jack McMorris (East Kilbride)

Ayrshire Boys Matchplay title holder Robbie Muir (Kilmarnock Barassie) was firast of the local players to book a place in round two when he beat Ethan Ross (Fraserburgh) by 4 & 2.

Muir now plays 2015 quairter finalist Michael Lawrie (Deeside) in the second round.

Four of the Ayrshire hopefuls were in action on Monday afternoon but by close of play only Jordan Sweeney (Ayr Belleisle) had joined Robbie Muir in round two.

Murray McCrone (Troon Welbeck) went to extra holes against Brad Murray (Fraserburgh) before losing out at the 20th, whilst Andrew Goprdon (Ayr Belleisle) lost by 4 & 2 to Cameron Carneigie (Kemnay) and Cameron Johnstone (Troon Welbeck) was beaten 5 & 4 by John Paul Ralph (Loretto School)

Jordan Sweeney cruised into round two with a 6 & 5 win over Daniel Gaines (Musselburgh) and will now play Lyle Murdoch (Kings Acre) at the next stage.

The other three Ayrshire players in the field, Jack Broun (Ayr Belleisle), Alyx Murray (Troon Welbeck) and Ewan Milligan (Kilmarnock Barassie) are all scheduled to play their opening ties on Tuesday.
