AYRSHIRE SCRATCH LEAGUES - Irvine deny Loudoun three in a row

The 2014 Ayrshire Scratch league Division 1 champions are Irvine Gofl Club, who won the title from defending champions Loudoun by the narrowest of margins this week, despite losing their final match at Loudoun by 4 - 2.

Loudoun, who have won the title in the last two years in final match encounters, needed to win their final home match against Irvine by 5 - 1 to retain the title once more, but came up just short in their bid, their 4 - 2 win leaving them just a single tie away from retaining their title.

At the foot of the table, Ballochmyle saved their Division 1 status for 2015 at the expense of their hosts Troon Welbeck/ Ballochmlye's 3.5 - 2.5 final match win at Troon, over the darley course, ensured their survival.

The game was also memorable for Ballochmyle's Jamie Wilson who recorded a hole in one at the ninth on the Darley course during the match.
