Having previously won the title in 2012, the McCulloch brothers became the first pair in the history of the event to win the trophy for a second time.

Robert Adams (4) was the lowest handicapper of the final, resulting in his partner Iain Pirrie (13) getting 7 shots, Geogrge McCulloch (6) getting 2 shots and David McCulloch (9) getting four shots in the match.

The Brunston castle duo took an early lead at the second hole and increased their lead at the sixth before being pegged back by the Abbotsford team who took the seventh with a birdie three and the ninth with a par to level the match at the turn.

The abbotsford side went one ahead for the first time at the tenth but the match was square again a hole later.

A win at the thirteenth, with a fine four from Iain Pirrie, put Abbotsford in the lead again, but the match was levelled once again at the fourteenth when George McCulloch holed a superb putt of around 40 feet, down over the slope in the two tiered green for a winning birdie three.

This proved to be a turning point in the match and when Pirrie missed a five foot putt for par on the fifteenth the McCulloch brothers went one ahead in the match for the first time since the front nine.

A good par three from George McCulloch was enough to secure a second successive hole for the Brunston Castle duo who went dormie as a result.

The match was not over however, and with both Brunston castle players in trouble from the tee at the seventeenth, Abbotsford took the hole and the match went to the final hole.

David McCulloch had the best of the four tee shots at the last, finishing just short of the green, and with his partner safely on in two, and both the Abbotsford players unable to get on the green in two, David McCulloch played is second up close to the hole, prompting a concession of the hole and the match from Abbotsford, giving the Brunston Castle duo a two hole win, and the brothers a second title win in three years.

At the conclusion of the match, refereed by the tournament administrator Hugh McKenzie, Ayrshire Golf Association Secretary Alasdair Malcolm thanked the club for hosting the final ahd Hugh for his administration of the event, before presenting vouchers to the four finalists and handing the Ayrshire Fourball Trophy over the the 2014 winners from Brunston Castle..
