AYRSHIRE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP - Course record for Bunch as Prestwick secure second title

Prestwick Golf Club are the 2014 Ayrshire Club Champions, winning the title by three shots at Rowallan Castle on Sunday 6th July to regain the trophy they won for the first time in 2009.

 In sunny but breezy conditions, which saw the CSS rise to +3 reduction only, teams from 18 clubs contested the R.L Crawford Trophy and Club Champions title.

Contributing to Prestwick's winning team total, James Bunch enjoyed the satisfaction of returning  the best individual score of the day with a fine score of 73, which was also confirmed as a new amateur course record.

Jonathan King added a 77 to Bunch's 73 in the two scores from three format, with Gavin Lawrie's 79 being discarded, leaving Prestwick with a team total of 150 which ultimately left them three ahead of nearest rivals Kilmarnock (Barassie) on 153.

Irvine and Prestwick St Cuthbert shared third place on 154.

Prestwick Golf Club will now go forward to represent Ayrshire in the 2014 Scottish Club Championship tournament at Lundin Links on 14th September when they will be hoping to repeat their 2009 effort when they added the Scottish title to their Ayrshire trophy win.
