Ayrshire's last hope in the Scottish Seniors Matchplay Championship at Alyth, Ricky Gray of Irvine GC, bowed out in the quarter finals of the competition on Thursday 18 July, beaten in extra holes in his bid to reach a second successive final.
In the second round of matchplay on Thursday morning, Gray beat seniors internationalist Bob Stewart (Tulliallan by 2 & 1 to set up a match against Lindsay Blair (Grangemouth) in the last eight.
Despite his efforts, Gray was edged out by Blair at the first extra hole in their quarter final tie in the afternoon.
