SCOTTISH STROKEPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP - Macneal and Smyth carry Ayrshire hopes in closing rounds

Only two Ayrshire players made the cut in The Scottish Open Strokeplay Championship at Kilmarnock (Barassie) when the second round was completed on Saturday.

Charlie Macneal

Charlie Macneal added a two over par 75 to his opening 68 to leave him on 143, or 3 under par, and five strokes behind the leader Ross Bell (Downfield).

Michael Smyth
With the cut falling at level par 146, Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) made the final rounds with a shot to spare, adding a second round 74 to his opening 71 for a one under par total of 145.

James Bunch of Prestwick (73/74) and Stuart Robin of Prestwick St Nicholas (72/75) were unfortunate to miss the cut by one stroke on 147, 1 over par.
