Macneal leads Ayrshire bid at Barassie

There was some fine scoring on day one of the Scottish Open Strokeplay Championship at Kilmarnock (Barassie) on Friday 1st June, with former Ayrshire Boys Champion Charlie Macneal (Troon Welbeck) leading the challenge of the Ayrshire players.

South African Hayden Porteous leads the field after an opening round of 65, 8 under parCharlie macneal lies three shots further back after a superb opening round of 68

Craig Hamilton (Ballochmyle) and Michael Smyth (Royal Troon) ended the day on 2 under par whilst Stuart Robin (Prestwick St Nicholas) also carded a sub par round on one under.
Jack McDonald of the host club and James Bunch (Prestwick) finished with level par 73's.
