Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) has booked his place in the last 32 of the 2010 Amateur Championship, being played at Muirfield this week.
In the first round of the matchplay, on Wednesday morning, the other Ayrshire player in the field, Chris Harkins (Ayr Belleisle) lost out by 3 & 2 to Elias Bertheussen (Norway).
Michael Stewart faced a second round match against Philipp Westermann (Germany) on Wednesday afternoon and secured a place in the last 32 with a 4 & 3 win over his opponent.
In the last 32, on Thursday morning, Stewart plays Irish internationalist Paul Cutler (Portstewart).
