SCOTTISH BOYS STROKEPLAY - Stewart third as Bookless wins title

Michael Stewart (Troon Welbeck) narrowly failed in his bid to add the national boys strokeplay title to the matchplay event he won earlier in the year, when he finished third , behind winner mark Bookless (Sandyhills)and Sam Binning (Ranfurly castle) at the Lansdowne cours at Blairgowrie on Thursday 24th July.

Stewart trailed by 6 after the second round but a third round of 70 took him to within a shot of Bookless, who had led the tournament from day one. Stewart never got any closer however, and a closing 74, his worst round of the week, put Stewart into third place on 287, five behind Bookless and 4 behind Binning.

Next best Ayrshire player was Kle Smith (Kilmarnock Barassie) who finished with a 77 for a 296 total.
