David J. Miller (Kilmarnock Barassie), pictured right, was again the best placed Ayrshire player in the latest event on the Scottish Seniors tour when he took the runners up spot in the East Of Scotland Seniors Open at Monifieth this week.

In an event which was dominated from start to finish by former Scottish Amateur Champion Ian Hutcheon of the host club, there was only ever going to be one winner and with two rounds of 66 Hutcheon was a distant thirteen shots ahead of the field.

Whilst the championship was belonged to Ian Hutcheon, Miller could lay claim to winning the tournament for the remaining competitors in the field, his rounds of 70 and 75 for a 145 total puting him two strokes ahead of his nearest rival.

Fellow Ayrshire player, Ronnie McLellan (Turnberry), pictured right, was also well placed, with round of 76 and 72 for a 148 total and share of fourth place.
