SCOTTISH MID AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP - Just over a month left to enter exciting new Mid Amateur event.

Players have just over a month left to enter an exciting new competition for Mid-Amateur golfers which, along with another new event, is being inaugurated this year, providing competitive opportunities to a section of golfers who have seen such chances to compete diminish over recent years.


The 54 hole Scottish Mid-Amateur Strokeplay Championship for The Kevin McAlpine Memorial  Trophy, a World Amater Golf rankings counting competition, will take place at Alyth Golf Club on the Monday the 23rd and Tuesday the 24th of June.

“The McAlpine” is open to ALL golfers 30 years of age and over on the 1st of January 2025 and are members of a Scottish Golf Club, and are of amateur status as defined by R&A Rules Limited & in possession of a current WHS handicap index of NOT MORE THAN 3.4

Players will complete two rounds on the Monday with the top 30 and ties progressing to the final 18 holes on the Tuesday.

Entries are due to close on the 2nd of June 2025.

The other new event is "The Hutcheon" which is scheduled to take place at Monifieth Golf Links from Monday the 4th to Thursday the 7th of August and will comprise strokeplay qualifying progressing to matchplay, in a similar format to the former Scottish Mid-Amateur Championship which was discontinued by the national body several years ago.

The organisers and sponsors of these two new events are to be applauded for proactively providing prestigious national championships for the Mid-Amateur golfer.
