AYRSHIRE GOLF ASSOCIATION A.G.M. - Initial AGM notice sent to club secretaries

The initial notice for the 2024 AGM of The Ayrshire Golf Association has been sent by email to the secretaries of all member clubs recently.

The Annual General Meeting of the Ayrshire Golf Association will be held  this year in Loudoun Gowf Club, Newmilns Road, Galston, KA4 8PA, on Tuesday the 22nd of  October 2024 at 7.30pm. 

The provisional agenda for the AGM is :-

2. Minutes of AGM of 17.10.2023 

3. Matters Arising

4. Presidents report – to be forwarded in due course

5. Financial report – to be forwarded in due course

6. Ayrshire Junior League / Coaching Report – to be forwarded in due course

7. Election of Secretary/Treasurer

8. Election of General Committee

9. Area Subscriptions

10. AOCB

In accordance with the constitution, there will be five executive places available for three years at the AGM. There are also one vacancy for 1 year and one vacancy for 2 years available on the Executive committee. 

Under the constitution, Nominees must be a member of a club affiliated to The Ayrshire Golf Association and be proposed and seconded by members of affiliated clubs also.

The work of The Association Executive is varied and encompasses, amongst other things, Competitions, handicapping, team administration at all age groups, rules and working with the National body and local agencies in the promotion of golf in the county.

All matters for the AGM, any proposals from member clubs and nominations for above positions and Executive posts require to be in the hands of The Secretary, in writing, by Friday the 4th of October 2024 at the latest.

The final Agenda of the meeting, various reports, previous AGM minutes, annual balance sheet and budget proposals will be forwarded to club secretaries prior to the AGM and at this time clubs will be requested to advise if they will be represented at the AGM. All documentation will be forwarded by email in due course.


WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Mixed fortunes for Ayrshire in week 2

There was mixed fortunes for Ayrshire in week two of the West Of Scotland Inter County Leagues, on Sunday the 22nd of September, the A team losing to Dumbartonshire at Clydebank and District while the youths team recorded a win in the corresponding fixture at Loudoun GC.

In the A team match at Clydebank & District Ayrshire lost the first three singles ties  and one of the two foursomes ties to go down by 4.5-1.5 to the hosts from Dumbartonshire.

Lanarkshire moved to the top of the youths league table on tie difference following a second successive victory in the 2024 championship, beating Stirlingshire 6 - 2 at Carluke.


In the other match played on Sunday the 22nd of September Renfrewshire youths bounced back from defeat on week one to record a 6.5 - 1.5 victory over Glasgow youths at paisley.

THE MORAN CLAN - Ayrshire siblings secure unique 'double - double ' championship successes

Ayrshire brother and sister Liam and Orla Moran created a unique 'double - double' success in club championships on Sunday the 22nd of September 2024 during the finals day at Irvine Golf Club.

Liam (16) won the Irvine Junior Championship final against Aidan Hay to add to his Junior Championship success at Prestwick St Cuthbert GC in August, while Orla (14) won the Irvine GC Ladies Club Championship title, beating multiple title winner Pauline Patrick in the final, to add to the Prestwick St Cuthbert Ladies Club Championship title she won in August, also on the same day that her brother landed the junior title.

The title wins add to an impressive season for the brother and sister, which has seen Liam winning the best scratch trophy at the Prestwick St Nicholas Junior Open and being an integral member of the Ayrshire Boys' team who won the West of Scotland Inter County Under 18 league title, while Orla has won several titles and trophies including the best scratch girl's award at the Prestwick St Cuthbert Junior Open, the inaugural Ayrshire Girls Strokeplay Championship and the West Kilbride Girls Open.

Many congratulations to both Liam and Orla and keep up the good work.

 

AYRSHIRE JUNIOR GOLF LEAGUE - West Kilbride win 2024 League Championship

West Kilbride are the 2024 Ayrshire Junior Golf League champions, winning the title with a narrow win over Turnberry in the final, played at Loudoun Gowf Club on Saturday the 21st of September.

Turnberry's only previous championship win came in 2016 while West Kilbride were champions on three previous occasions, the last being in 2022.

WEST OF SCOTLAND INTER COUNTY LEAGUES - Ayrshire and Lanarkshire win in both A and Youths matches in week one

The teams from Ayrshire and Lanarkshire got off to the best possible start in week one of the West of Scotland Inter County A and Youtsh leagues on Sunday the 15th of September, winning their respective matches in both competitions.

In the A league Ayrshire began their title challenge with a 3.5 - 2.5 home win over the newly crowned Scottish Area team Champions renfrewshire at Prestwick St Cuthbert GC.

In a tight match under the revised A league format, with four singles matches and two foursomes, Ayrshire won two of the singles and crucially took one and a half points from two in the foursomes ties.
