AYRSHIRE MEN'S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS - First round ties completed and two progress to round three

The first round ties in the 2024 Ayrshire Men's Champion of Champions Trophy competition have been completed, and two players are through to round three after playing their second round ties.

In the outstanding first round ties, Henry Rocks (Irvine Ravenspark)  beat Mark Adams (Ayr Dalmilling) by 5&4 at Ravenspark and is now at home to Brian Gibson (Rowallan Castle) in round two, while Kenny Doherty (Routenburn) had a 5&4 home win over Jamie Ralston (Moorpark) by 5&4  to secure a second round tie at home to Scott Campbell (Turnberry).

A 2&1 away win by Barry McDonnell (Stewarton) over Craig Anderson (Ayr Carrick) secured McDonnell a visit to play Andrew Marshall (Prestwick St Nicholas) in round two while a home win by 2&1 for John Tanner (Prestwick Centre) over Andy McDonald (Auchenharvie 88) gives Tanner a home tie against John R Anderson (Skelmorlie) in round two.

In the remaining first round tie Lewis Higgins (Ardeer) had a 2&1 win at home to Sam Findlater (Braehead) to book a home tie in round two against Michael Main (Largs).

John Shanks (Irvine) had a 6&4 win over his visitor Christopher Hewitson (Wallacetown) in their second round tie to book a visit to either Troon St Meddans or Alton in round three, while Alan Smeeton (Tam O Shanter) had a 2&1 wi n on his second round visit to play Colin Goudie (Ayrshire Strokeplay Champion) , and will now visit either Prestwick St Cuthbert or West Kilbride in round three.
